Lisa J Croner

Lisa Croner is an artist/scientist based in southern California.

Her recent work explores how natural processes interact with human intentions. Examples are abstract pieces using graphite powders.

Interactions between natural processes and human intentions also come to play in painting landscapes outside ("en plein air"). The light and the scenery change unpredictably. There is excitement in  catching the essence of a scene while letting the image remain open to capture new impressions.

Croner's studio work mixes abstraction and representation, often examining tensions between comfort, vulnerability, and entrapment in suburbia.
